New Direction

A lot has happened this past week. I have a final diagnosis on what is wrong with my thyroid. I have been given the diagnosis of Thyroid Papillary Carcinoma. Certainly not what I wanted, but at least I know what I am fighting. From what I have read this is a slow moving cancer. This may give me a different perspective than what someone else has. I resonate with what Susan Somers said, “Having cancer is a lonely experience. It is the one time in your life that you cannot ask those closest to you, ‘What should I do?’ It’s too heavy a burden to place on another person. This is your life, your decision, and cancer kills.” I am not telling anyone what they should do if they get cancer. I merely want to journal what I am doing and to let people know they may have options. Every person is different, and each cancer is different. I have a rare cancer around 4% of all diagnosed cancer is thyroid and out of the few cases of thyroid cancer only 25% occur in men.

I am no longer a Beachbody coach. My naturopathic doctor said that the adaptogens in Shakeology were over stimulating to my immune system. This was when my problem looked like hyperthyroidism. When I stopped the Shakeology, I was very tired, but did feel better after a day or two. Also at that time my thyroid area was so swollen you could not see my Adam’s Apple. In about a week this swelling was reduced. At this time I was primarily taking supplements to calm my body.

You may be asking if I think Shakeology caused my condition. I do not, but I think it aggravated my condition. I have a family history of thyroid problems. One case of diagnosed thyroid cancer and another suspected. In both, the thyroids were removed. This is the standard care for thyroid cancer, removal. Thinking I had hyperthyroidism, I have studied the thyroid. It is a very important organ. One I deeply desire to keep.

This begins my journey. I am going against the standard care and looking to food and herbs to cure me. I have been reading Knockout by Susan Somers and have been intrigued by what these doctors are able to accomplish. I am also familiar with the Gerson Therapy.

What am I doing now? Well, we are still working on that. Laetrile will be a big part of my healing. Did you know Laetrile is illegal. You can learn more by watching a documentary I saw recently. It is called Second Opinion. There is a way around this. You see, Laetrile is the extract from apricot seeds. I have 2lbs on order. I found a recommendation online for these. They are supposed to arrive tomorrow so I will post about them later.

I also found information about the Gerson green juice and found a website about how someone beat cancer using food. Last night I used my new juicer I purchased off craigslist to make his Carrot, Celery, Beet and Ginger Juice. It was rather strong and the pain I was feeling in my neck went away. Maybe it was a coincidence, but I’ll try it again. I will also make the green juice today.

I believe food is medicine and I will be using it as such. I am thankful to my God for the wisdom He is providing to me and my doctors.

Stick around to see how this plays out.
