Sleep is very important. Sleep is when cells are repaired. Sleep is required for sanity. So maybe this explains some of the craziness in my family. You see, sleep problems run in my family. For the last few days I have been having difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep. This happens every once in a while. I’m not certain the cause.
Once I had this much difficulty I had adrenal fatigue. I just thought about this last night. I have been taking melatonin without much success. Last night I even took melatonin and magnesium. This combination should have me sleep very well. Last night, it took me an hour to go to sleep. I was able to stay asleep, but I think it was because I thought about adrenal fatigue.
I took a class from Dr. Christopher’s School of Natural Healing. From Dr. Christopher I learned that the adrenal needs food. Ok, you may be thinking, all I have to do is eat. Well, the adrenal prefers certain kinds of food. I know, those picky glands. The really nice thing is that one of the favorite foods of the adrenal has no calories. So last night I gave my adrenal some food and I did again this morning. Last time I had adrenal fatigue it was during a very stressful time at work. I was putting in long hours and under some very tight deadlines. I don’t have that at work right now. But my new exercise program, P90X3, is rather intense and could be taxing my adrenal.
Wait, what is that? Oh, what did I feed my adrenal? Oh, well I’m sure the FDA has not looked into this, but I use a decoction of licorice root. It feeds the adrenal and adds zero calories to the diet. Oh, and if you add it to peppermint tea, it tastes real good.
So I will be adding licorice root back to my routine and see what happens. I’ll keep you posted.
